Kent, Oregon

Kent is a ghost town not far from better known neighbor, Shaniko. Also located on the Columbia Southern Railroad, it was a shipping point for local farmers and a stop on Highway 97. Like so many other rural towns, newer automobiles and improved highways diminished the need for Kent’s services, and people moved away. A few people live here still, and many old buildings still stand. The gas station looks to have been abandoned not so long ago, but how long has it been since gas pumps like that have been in use? Can you still get Orange Crush? Maybe its been longer than I think…
