The road from Tygh Valley through the Warm Springs Indian Reservation to Prineville is one of the oldest routes in Oregon, dating to the 1860's. Some sections of it follow old Indian trails that are probably thousands of years old. This section is at the top of the Descutes River Canyon near Madras, Oregon. The remains of three old sections of the road come together in this spot, and there are several areas where rocks have been moved to the side to make way for the road. This is a nice quiet spot where a spike deer happened to come along as we looked things over.
